Tool #9

1.Why do you think it is important to tie the technology to the objective?
We are surrounded by technology and therefore by connecting it to our teaching, we are preparing students for real world applications and in the process making learning more enjoyable.
2.Why should we hold students accountable for the stations/centers?
Holding students accountable communicates to students the message that they are capable of making responsible choices and working together as a team.
3.Visit 2 of the applicable links to interactive websites for your content/grade level. Which sites did you like. How could you use them as stations? How can you hold the students accountable for their time in these stations?
I was impressed by the SBISD Interactive Database. The list of approved web tools and apps available all in one place is convenient and practical.
4.List two to three apps you found for the iPod Touch/iPad that you can use in your classroom. What do you see that station looking like? How can you hold the students accountable for their time in these stations?
Sock Puppets is one that could be used in the collaboration of service learning projects between high school and younger students. This app lets you create videos, using puppets, props and scenery, all while recording your voice. I could see students using this tool to role-play scenarios on bullying prevention and sharing their finished product on YouTube.
5.What about other ways to use the iPod Touch/iPad? Share another way you can see your students using the device as a station.
It can be used for blogging throughout the course of a project, to share what they are learning with others.
